Learning Style, Study Planning and Revision Skills – planning the year

We will explore the students learning preferences using Brain Dominance and Preferences tools to greater understand their style.

This workshop will aim to assist the student to see the school year and the completion of the curriculum as set piece of work that can be managed and chunked down into manageable sections. During this time the student will analyse each subject and break it down into sections to review. Each of these sections will then be plotted into a year plan for each subject.

We will organise their study and learning timetable for the academic year.

We will plan and review all learning covered and categorise to assist in revision planning.

Concentration & Organising my learning, Note making & Graphic Organisers

This workshop will focus on the active skills of focusing and concentration. Helping the students to understand how to use their best skills to develop good learning materials.

We will learn and develop skills in taking notes from a variety of sources using narrative and visual tools to develop the skill. What most students call study is the process of reviewing information and processing it by making notes. This is a skill that can be practiced across many subjects.

We will use the apprenticeship model to teach a number of different graphic tools to manage and process information such as the Fish Bone Diagram, Time Lines and Custer maps.

We will learn about focus and how to assist yourself in developing better habits.

In this workshop we will focus on Motivation to learn, why we can attend to some subjects and not to others?

Whats in it for me? how do I learn to be better at subjects I do not enjoy, and how will that skill help me in college?

Building memory skills takes time, but we will teach you some key skills to help how you retain information.
