Choices

Learning House is a comprehensive Educational Support and Career Guidance service to support both students in school and college as well as adults returning to learning or seeking to change their career.We art now working with schools to support changes at a school level across a number of areas. Please see our section on educational consultation to get more details.

In our study and Career work we are a small team of professionals available to support you on your career path. CV editing and development as well as application forms and letters are a key area needing work for many, but is a short and targeted activity. We aim to increase the Vocational Literacy, that is to say the different thymes of roles and careers, of our clients by helping them understand their skills and talents and how to make the best career choices based on this information. Many of the learners we work with are at a decision point and they want help making a career or educational choice. What course, job to apply for?

Bio: Billy Redmond

Billy Redmond is currently on Career Break from his role as Principal of St Laurence College in Loughlinstown where he was leading a DEIS school for 4 years.

Currently he is working with a number of educational partners and schools to develop Continuous Professional Development and helping schools and organsiations to operationalise systems and plans. He is also working with UCD and DCU on the masters program in education.

Prior to this he has been working for 3 years as the National Co-ordinator for Teacher Induction (Post-Primary) supporting Schools, Newly Qualified Teachers, Facilitators and Mentors. His professional career has included involvement with teachers at different stages on the continuum of education. In his previous role as a Regional Development Officer with the National Behaviour Support Service he worked for 5 years supporting schools to strategically innovate their positive behaviour systems and practices.

He received hie BEd Degree as a Home Economics and Religion and was teaching for 12 years prior to secondment. He has studied at postgraduate level in Guidance & Counselling with UCD , School Development Planning with NUIG , Educational Management and Mentoring and Induction and CPD with Trinity.
